Office Data Cabling & Wi-Fi Design

A surveyed, labelled network beats a wishful one.

We run structured data cabling and wireless design for NSW offices, from single-fitouts to multi-site rollouts. We do not "run a cable" and walk away. We survey the space, design the network, label every end, and test every run.

Data cabling

Wireless site survey

Before we install access points, we walk the floor with a spectrum analyser. We map existing coverage, neighbouring Wi-Fi networks and sources of interference (microwaves, steel partitions, elevators). We then position access points to carry the expected client density, not just to "cover" the room.

What we do not do

Common Wi-Fi mistakes we see in NSW offices

Using the ISP router as both router and wireless access point

The router your NBN provider installed handles internet routing and wireless at the same time. In a small office with ten staff, it works. In an office with thirty staff, two meeting rooms and a digital display, it does not. We replace it with a dedicated router and separate access points positioned for coverage and capacity, not for convenience.

Putting all access points on the same channel

Consumer-grade access points auto-select channels and usually all pick the same one, which creates a collision domain rather than a coverage network. We manually set channels during the site survey and re-check them after neighbouring offices install new equipment.

Putting guest Wi-Fi on the same network as POS and servers

A visitor to your office should not be able to reach your file server. We segment the wireless network into a guest VLAN, a staff VLAN and an IoT VLAN, each with its own security policy.

Ignoring metal shelving, elevators and steel partitions

A steel-framed office building in Sydney absorbs radio energy in ways that a site survey reveals. We walk the floor with a spectrum analyser before we mount anything, rather than after the sales team complains that video calls drop in the boardroom.

What a cabling job includes

We run Cat 6 cable from the MDF to each desk, each meeting room port and each access point location. Every run is terminated on a patch panel, tested with a cable certifier, and labelled at both ends with a unique identifier. We provide a marked-up floor plan showing where each point terminates, so when a desk moves, the cable run can be found in minutes rather than by pulling out the ceiling tile.

New fit-outs vs existing offices

We work with your builder or shop fitter during fit-outs. Cabling in an existing office is more expensive, more disruptive, and more likely to need a creative path through the ceiling. We quote the difference between the two and tell you which one you are getting before we start.
